Free Heart Psychotherapy | Jillian Foster LCSW , LCAS
In working with Jillian Foster , I have learned to not let “What Was” dictate “What Is” or “What Can Be.” She’s taught me how to be human. How to love myself unconditionally. How to eliminate limiting thoughts-thoughts that have prevented me from feeling whole.
Jillian’s your partner in recovery, not an academic dying to shrink your head so she can write an award winning white paper. While she stresses understanding the motivations and drivers of attitudes and behaviors, both past and present, she avoids speaking in esoteric, sanctimonious post-Freudian word salad. She speaks simply, and draws on a multitude of disciplines to provide a true holistic approach to recovery. Therapy with her is solutions driven, with insights and action steps I’m able to realistically utilize."
"Jillian truly radiates a joyful sprit and love... which is a unique gift that defines her place in our world. I always leave our sessions feeling energized and clear-headed... and thanks to her, I'm ready to continue my path bursting with positive energy and hope. She's smart and intuitive - you will appreciate her insights and gentle nature without feeling judged."-Stephen T.
“Respond to every call
that excites your spirit.”
I would love to join together with you to tune in and trust your natural instincts, the wisdom of your organism, to flow into a more free, joyful, fulfilling, authentic, wildly wonderful existence as a human being that you were uniquely born to live. To delight in yourself, have way more fun, feel more ease, play, dance and sing freely like a child again, and to laugh and flow with life rather than fight against it. The wisdom of your organism with its instinctual emotional and physical messages in the present moment will guide us exactly where we need to go….
I am passionate about making therapy practical, experiential and fun. I love creating a safe, healing space for you to open up and share your whole self with compassionate acceptance, which naturally produces real life change. I am an Emotionally Focused Therapist, the APA gold star treatment for couples and individuals, and EMDR for deep body-mind healing and integrate Expressive Arts, Gestalt, CBT, and DBT too.
I want to help you remember the value of who you- that you are perfect, whole and complete even through the darkness, pains and sorrows of this life. I work from a spiritually-pragmatic "down-to-earth and heart-centered" perspective assessing patterns related to your symptoms and finding a way to transform the ones that are not working for you.
I believe with all my heart, that no matter what you are struggling with right now, together we can find a way to your freedom and peace. What if, that perhaps with every challenge you currently face and have faced, therein lies your greatest treasure?! Love is the ultimate healer.
EMDR can help unlock frozen memories and emotions at the subcortical level, giving you relief from maladaptive patterns of living and set you free to be your best self. (https://www.emdria.org/page/emdr_therapy)
The quality of the connection we have with ourselves is reflected in the quality of the relationships we have with others. I believe that the most important relationship we will ever have is with ourselves-no one on the planet is more deserving of your love than you are!!! Through developing a compassionate friendship with yourself, all other relationships, including intimate partnerships, will grow too. Everything is a mirror for the self
to grow and heal and love more deeply.
In addition to one-on-one sessions, I offer Emotionally Focused Therapy For Couples, (http://iceeft.com/what-is-eft/), an attachment theory based process of deepening compassionate understanding of the negative interaction cycles happening, and how to break free and heal, so our hearts can feel safe and open to love and be loved, our true nature.
Together, we will hold unconditionally loving and compassionate space for you to receive whatever you are needing. There’s nothing you need to say, do, change, or fix in order to become better – you already are your perfectly whole self in this very moment as always – it’s just sometimes in life we can lose sight and forget our true selves through all the pain and suffering.
I see “psychotherapy” and life as a journey home to the true self
– a shift in perception from fear to love.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization, and Reprocessing)
Do you feel like you keep going through the same things over and over again, maybe even feeling stuck in certain patterns? EMDR can help you! This research proven evidence based practice helps by updating frozen memories, traumas, recurring triggers, and negative self-beliefs to help you be FREE, EMPOWERED, and STRONG in every area of your life!
Life is really $%#[email protected]*& hard sometimes … But it is also full of magnificent wonder and joy in the midst of the pain we all experience as human beings on this earth. Acknowledging and honoring that what you are experiencing is hard is the first step—bringing compassionate awareness to your pain. I will hold space with you and deeply and compassionately listen and respond to what you are sharing with words, and to what you are saying even without words. We will access the wisdom of the heart as our guide. I offer an integrated approach that practically weaves elements of spiritual and natural healing into evidence-based practices. These include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Expressive Arts, Humanistic Sandtray, Restorative Yin Yoga, Mindfulness/Meditation, and Life Coaching
– just to name a few of the infinite possibilities.
I believe mind, body and spirit are all interconnected, and therefore in order to support the healing of the whole person we must work on all levels of being. That is why I offer holistic modalities. Therapy, like life, is really all about the process, or journey, more than the outcome or destination.
A simple shift in perception from fear to Love is all it truly takes for the miracle to occur — and this can happen in an instant, perhaps even when we come together with intention during your session. So please come with an open mind and open heart expecting a miracle.

Hi, I’m Jillian., In the darkest moments of my life, the grace of God and childlike trust and faith in life have helped me survive. I love to laugh at the ridiculousness of myself and the world, seeing that the more I’ve learned, the less I realize I actually know. Originally from Ocean City, New Jersey, I’ve lived gratefully in Asheville, North Carolina since 2007. I love to experience different cultures, and I’ve travelled extensively for several years in Ukraine, Poland, Western Europe, Cuba and Mexico and most recently South Africa. I love to sip fine tea, eat yummy whole foods, run in the woods, cycle, dance, practice yoga, meditation, and prayer. My own journey of healing and recovery in life has led me here today. I hope our paths will cross soon if that is meant to be.
Although I don't always listen at first, I have always been aware of the voice of Spirit guiding me in my life. I have learned to know and deeply trust this heart voice to guide me through my entire life and actually is what guided me surprisingly into this field of service. I am passionate to guide you too learn to trust your inner guidance that is your truest source of wisdom and strength"
